  64.     The above files may be copied & shared freely as a complete, unmodified
  65. set. Files marked with [*] are not needed during operation of WML and may be
  66. deleted from a disk if space is a premium, however, please include _all_ of
  67. the files in copies of WML you distribute.  If you use INSTALL it will
  68. remove some of the unneeded files.  I would appreciate it if you would keep
  69. the ORDER.FRM file handy on your disk until you decide whether WML suits
  70. your needs.

  72.     The Registered Edition contains extra files which are to be used only
  73. by registered users.  If you copy WML for a friend, please _erase_ these
  74. Registered Edition files to make an Unregistered Edition disk:

  80. Installation Notes
  81. ──────────────────
  82.     If you received your copy of WML on disk it should have INSTALL.EXE on it.
  83. Using INSTALL is faster than installing or updating manually and it will not
  84. touch your AUTOEXEC or CONFIG.  Just put the floppy in a drive and type
  85. "A:INSTALL" or "B:INSTALL" depending on your computer.
  86.  
  87.     When INSTALL is finished it will offer to unpack the included archives.
  88.  
  89.      WMLDOCS.EXE contains the documentation files (see below)
  90.      FONTS.EXE contains PCL soft fonts.  Soft fonts can reside in any
  91.       directory on any disk except for MailCode.SFL which *MUST* be in the
  92.       WML directory. If you put soft fonts in another directory, remember to
  93.       move MailCode.SFL back into your WML directory or you will not get any
  94.       bar codes on envelopes.
  95.      WFF*.EXE contains the latest version of What Floppy Format? which lets
  96.       you format floppies to any density from within WML.  You must have
  97.       FDFORMAT to use WFF.

  99.     If you have received WML from a bulletin board it would be best to:
  100.     1. Make a directory for it (for example, "MD \WML")
  101.     2. Go to that directory (e.g., "CD \WML")
  102.     3. Extract the archive.  I put all of the WML files together into a
  103.        self-extracting archive (an EXE file).  When you run this EXE file
  104.        it expands each of the files in the archive and returns to DOS. This
  105.        is convenient because you don't need any other programme, such as
  106.        PKUNZIP or ARJ, to unpack the archive -- it does it all by itself.
  107.        However, many BBSs don't like anything but ZIPs or ARJs or whatever
  108.        their chosen format is, so you may receive the WML*.EXE archive
  109.        inside of a ZIP, ARJ, etc.  So, according to your situation, do
  110.        these steps:

  112.        a. Unpack the archive
  113.        b. Check the file list above to see if there are other EXE archives
  114.           which were inside of the archive you just expanded.  If so, loop
  115.           back to step (a).

  117.     4. Type "WML" and set your Preferences.

  120. Installing on a Single Floppy Disk
  121. ──────────────────────────────────
  122.  
  123.     WML can be run from a single floppy disk although it will run _very_
  124. slowly as its primary function is working with disk files. Data files
  125. must be in the same directory as WML.EXE which means that everything has
  126. to fit on a single floppy disk.  If you only plan to use WML once a year
  127. to send Christmas cards this method will probably work fine.  Otherwise
  128. I suggest using a hard disk.

  130.     Use two disks: one to work with and one as a back-up.  Use "Diskcopy
  131. a: a:" to make a working copy of the floppy disk, if necessary.  Then
  132. delete the documentation and other files marked with [*] above -- this
  133. will give you more room for your data. The end result is about 470k of
  134. space used so you can fit about 350, 1050, or 1400 entries on a 720k,
  135. 1.2Mb, or 1.44Mb disk.

  138. Documentation Files
  139. ───────────────────
  140.     If you have WordPerfect 5, just load WML.WP.  Instructions to reformat
  141. and print are in a comment at the top of the file.  If you don't have
  142. WordPerfect or a way to convert the WML.WP file to your word processor,
  143. then just "TYPE WML.TXT > PRN" at the DOS prompt.  WML.TXT is an ASCII
  144. file generated from WordPerfect for a "standard printer" and this command
  145. will send it to the printer on port LPT1:.  You can substitute the "PRN"
  146. with "LPTx:" where the "x" is 1, 2, or 3.
